Huntdown is a 90s-style, screen-smashing action game now available on PCs and consoles and now on Android. Even though the city streets soak in crime, the territory divides up amongst four rival gangs, and the violence in the city worsens. When playing as one of three unique heroes, you’ll battle to restore peace and prosperity to ordinary citizens by declaring war on them. It is a run-and-gun action game of the 90s, where the player advances, continuously destroying gang members and boss characters using various weapons before eventually confronting another powerful enemy.
There will be many positive activities for your characters to participate in, such as rockets falling from helicopters, massive explosions, ninjas who want to take off the main character’s top layer, and various other activities to overcome. This game develops using an older 16-bit system, with hand-drawn pixel art, showcasing complex backgrounds and elaborate animations. If you like graphic design and cityscapes with neon lights, you will be enamored at first sight. Though, players get even more features when they combine traditional and modern gameplay. The game’s soundtrack also helps incorporate hard rock with elements that are characteristic of previous decades.
The game’s extremely vivid depiction of large-scale destruction, death made for a climactic adventure that I couldn’t leave my screen for even a second. Every level comprises several classes that lead to a final boss encounter. Depending on which gang you’re battling, the themes change among the ranks. Although, this does help keep any monotony elements at bay as the enemies always keep changing. Each character provides a different default gun, with an unlimited supply of ammunition and a few extra weapons. Of course, it would help if you stayed on your feet to keep yourself in the fight, but your combat effectiveness depends on your weapon’s sharpness. You can employ various approaches in battle, including sliding, using objects as cover, melee, and strategizing with whatever weapons and items are on the battlefield.
While the game only has one difficulty level, this fact is somewhat deceptive. When using Huntdown, you will find various weapons in the environment, but you can only carry one weapon in your hand at a time. By forcing you to make decisions and using the ammo you have, you have to calculate. When you pick up your favorite weapon, you’ll quickly find a new, better one that you like even more. Furthermore, there are also a variety of explosive weapons, such as grenades.
